Bernhard Kastner

08/08/2010 - 22/08/2011 Deschapelles, Haiti

“Just a few moments after the hard landing of our plane in Haiti, it already became abundantly clear: we had arrived in another world …

… In Haiti, I worked with methods and materials that probably wouldn’t be tolerated here in Germany. But the people there were so grateful, but more than anything else, they were patient!” reports Bernhard Kastner after his mission in Haiti.

Bernhard Kastner and his colleague Carsten Stauf from medi spent two weeks working in Haiti as part of an aid programme. The two Certified Prosthetic Orthotists (CPOs) supported the Albert-Schweitzer Hospital (HAS) in Deschapelles in providing prosthetic care for those Haitians who had to have limbs amputated after the catastrophic earthquake in January 2010.
