medi for help – why donate?
Haiti needs sustained help for self-help.

With your support, the non-profit aid organization medi for help ensures that patients with leg amputations are cared for professionally in Deschapelles.

Week on week, 30 to 40 people come to the prosthesis workshop. The objective is to secure this care in the long term with your support.

Your donation guarantees

• the provision of lower limb prostheses, special shoes for prosthesis wearers, walking aids and lots of other necessary care products at manufacturer’s price as well as the reliable transmission to the concerned.

• the continuous and intensive care and attention for Haitians who have had legs amputated by volunteers (selected orthopaedic technicians, who make up lower limb prostheses free of charge, individually fit them and provide support when the patients first start walking).

• the teaching and training of the personnel in Haiti (training to become orthopaedic technicians). In addition, the Hospital Albert Schweitzer enables suitable domestic helpers at the Don Bosco University (San Salvador) to start a distance learning course in orthopaedics technology with ISPO standard.

• the appointment of a fully employed head of the workshop to ensure the necessary standard of care in the long term

• the purchasing of a means of transport to ensure the provision of patients from outlying regions.
