The problem started as soon as I unpacked my suitcase. Where was I to put my clothes? Spiders, much to my dismay, are part of everyday life here. Luckily, my room also had a wardrobe with drawers, so I put my clothes in those.
Monday evening: I encountered my first spider. Not quite as large as a tarantula, but big enough for me. Outdoors I would just give it a wide berth, but this was hardly possible in my room. So the hunt was on. The creatures are really very fast, but I finally won the day.
Tuesday night: a mosquito somehow got under my mosquito net, but then left me in peace. At least there were no spiders today. Apparently there are two varieties of spiders, green and brown, whereby only the brown ones are dangerous.
Second week, Thursday: this morning the first spider I had seen for some time greeted me on my way to breakfast, but Spencer was faster. It’s amazing that these beasts are so dangerous, while tarantulas are harmless by comparison. Anyway, in my opinion, the only good spider is a dead spider!
